| | I'm starting to enjoy my #Networking Project a little bit more now that I've separated #LDAP and #MySQL #Servers from the #Apache Server. I can't believe it's really this simple after going through last year's painful code. I showed BF* last night and he said "No wonder we had so much trouble debugging back then." What caused a lot of trouble for me was really my lack of networking background. There are lots of networking settings that I need to set accurately like #domain names and the #DHCP #IP-Address. Even if I don't have a real domain name, I need to set one for my LDAP Server so that it matches with the various configurations. The other one was the deprecated ways in how I use LDAP a year ago, and the documentation from the open-source website is still incomplete. It took me a little while to figure everything out, but at least now I got it working, and it's so much easier. The next one was granting access to a remote user on a database. This one was less troublesome but still enough to give me a slight headache. I'm a bit more confident in configuring the system now. There's one more step that I'd like to take. Because the Apache Server is for remote file storage, I want to separate the storage place out of Apache to make it look like a real network. Our project is #Network #Management #System and so we'll install a little monitoring system as well. |
